to discuss unnecessary details without getting to the main issue
Example 1:
Look, I don’t have time to beat around the bush here. I need you to work on Sunday.
Example 2:
What the MP is discussing has nothing to do with the new proposal. He should stop beating around the bush, and cast his vote!
