For someone to fall apart:

To lose control, to have a nervous breakdown


For things to fall apart:

For a plan to go wrong

For life to become disorganised and chaotic


Example 1:

I was falling apart. I wasn't getting any sleep, I had lost all my friends, and I was going to lose my job. That’s when I found Jesus.


Example 2:

All my money was gone, I couldn’t pay my mortgage, and I hated my job. It felt like things were falling apart.
