Example 1:

McAvoy says he warned his manager the plan was flawed, but his warnings fell on deaf ears. Two months later, the project collapsed.


Example 2:

As the pandemic started early in 2020, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made a plea for a global cease-fire, saying the world needed to focus on “the true fight” against the coronavirus. Nearly 200 countries endorsed his cease-fire plea, but the plea overall fell on deaf ears.
